| Q.3 | How much dust will be created during the restoration of my floor? | |
| Q.4 | I have Marble Natural Stone floors in the kitchen. Some vinegar got on the floor and now we have a light spot. I believe that it is the sealer (polyurethane coating?)that discolored. What is the best way to get rid of these dull spots and bring the normal shine back? | |
| Q.5 | My tile grout lines are dirty. Why can't I get them clean? | |
| Q.6 | Recently a cleaning firm spilled a cleaner that is obviously acid on my marble vanities. They were sealed, but the damage is still very evident in the form of hundreds of small circles. What would you recommend as the way to repair them, the materials to use, etc? Would it be better to replace the vanities? Sealing DOES NOT prevent etching. Sealing your stone inhibits staining. You do not need to replace your vanity tops. They can easily be repaired by Superb Stone and Tile Care | |

| How do I know if my Marble, Granite or stone is sealed? Simply apply water or mineral spirits to your stones surface for 10 minutes. Afterwards wipe away. If a dark spot apears than you know its time for the stone to be sealed.. |

| I have Marble Natural Stone floors in the kitchen. Some vinegar got on the floor and now we have a light spot. I believe that it is the sealer (polyurethane coating?)that discolored. What is the best way to get rid of these dull spots and bring the normal shine back? When acid (vinegar) comes into contact with marble (calcium carbonate), it causes a chemical reaction. The result is called etching. Natural stone sealers penetrate the stone and do not prevent this natural reaction. If you do in fact have a polyurethane coat on top of your stone, then you have a different problem altogether. Call Stone Solutions to strip off the coating. If the stone is etched, we can refinish it. . |

| My tile grout lines are dirty. Why can't I get them clean? Grout is very porous. Unless properly sealed when installed AND sealed every few years after being installed your grout will act as a sponge absorbing every liquid it encounters. Believe it or not, the most prevalent culprit contributing to dirty or stained grout problems is dirty mop water, and improper mopping techniques. Most people do not realize that when mopping a floor you wring out the mop FIRST so that it is damp but not wet when mopping a floor. This allows the dirt to be picked up and transferred to the mop bucket. A wet mop dissolves the dirt and allows it to run into the grout line where it concentrates as it liquid evaporates away. A wet mop effectively cleans the tile top while dirtying the grout line. Dirty mop water does the same thing. A rule of thumb we teach our teams is that if you glue a quarter to the bottom of your mop bucket it is time to change the water once you can no longer see the coin. Okay, so what can we do about this situation? If the grout has been routinely sealed a tile-and-grout-cleaning may be all you need to restore a clean appearance. However, in most cases no one remembers to clean and re-seal and therefore the grout becomes stained, at which point the best option is to have Stone Solutions professinolly apply a color-matched topical seal to the grout restoring it to its original appearance, while applying a professional grade topical seal providing substantial improvements in stain resistance going forward. . |
